Distribuzione e habitat

Il caracara nero si trova in mwhaBolivia, mwhqBrasile, mwhgColombia, mwhwEcuador, mwiaGuiana francese, mwiqGuyana, mwigPerù e mwiwVenezuela.

Il suo mwjqhabitat naturale sono le mwjgforeste tropicali o subtropicali umide del sud e gli ambienti degradati di vecchie foreste.

Tassonomia

Il mwkqgenere mwkgDaptrius è oggi considerato un genere monospecifico. Il caracara dal collo rosso, in passato collocato in questo genere, è oggi inserito nel genere monospecifico mwkwIbycter (mwlamwlqIbycter americanus).cite-ref-ioc-2-1[2]
